I am a Parent of a Beautiful Little Girl Joplyn, and I desperately want her to grow up in a world where she is equal to her male counterparts. In a world where she makes as much money as a man next to her in whatever career path she chooses. In a world where she can do and be accepted equally as a woman. She deserves this right, she deserves to be equal as does every woman. It is a travesty that we live in such a male dominated world, where woman aren't taken as seriously as men are. There are woman being sold into sex slave rings, with very little action. Woman in other countries are treated horribly and violently.Where woman make far less money then men do, when woman out populate men by at least 5 to 1 in America.
When I watched Emma Watson's speech for UN Woman and for HeForShe campaign something inside me sparked, so I decided to take action in my community and create a HeforShe campaign in my city. The path has been positive and negative, but I will soldier on in the Gender equality movement if not for my daughter for every single woman in the world. It is there purpose to get men and boys involved in this movement, to raise there voices for their Mothers, Sisters, Aunts, Grandma's, Cousins, Wives, Daughter, and Friends. It is Important to have a male following to have a HE FOR SHE world!

Dear Future Donator,
I am writing to tell you about a
new and exciting Campaign. He For She is a Gender Equality movement, dedicated
to aspiring men and boys to join the fight against gender inequality. The goal
is to have 1 Billion men signed up by July 2015. I am starting a West Michigan
chapter of the He For She movement. My goal is to raise money to raise money.
I’m planning a Fundraising Gala for sometime late spring, It will be a night of
Food, Music, Dancing, and other forms of Entertainment all on a charitable
volunteer basis. I am also in talks with the comedian Mimi Gonzalas who has
been featured on many T.V. shows as well as a Regular Stand-up Comedian on LOGO
to be the MC for the evening’s festivities. I am also producing a artistic
calendar that will be photographed by a local Photographer, which will be sold
for $10 apiece and all proceeds will go towards the Fundraising Gala.
The
overall goal of the campaign is to spread awareness and spark action on the
responsibility that men and boys have in eliminating all forms of
discrimination against women and violence against women and girls. Additional
goals include: Engage UN Women and UN entities and their country offices to
develop sustainable, transformative programs for the full participation of men
and boys in support of gender equality. Collaborate with government officials,
men’s organizations and other civil society organizations, universities and
schools to create and promote HeForShe events and campaigns within their local
communities. Inspire people to take action against gender-based discrimination
and violence against women and girls. Create a platform to highlight as role
models, men and boys who are taking a stand against gender based discrimination
and violence against women and girls globally.
I am
writing to ask if you would be willing to either make a monetary contribution,
or offer a service in going along with the Fundraising Gala. The money raised
at the Gala will go directly to the HeForShe UN Women’s Fund, which they divvy
out all charitable donations to an array of women’s charities and services, in
America and in other countries such as Zimbabwe provide loans to four fisherwomen in Binka, Zimbabwe, provide seed funding to 21,000
women farmers in Côte d’Ivoire or support 250 indigenous women in Guatemala to
gain national ID cards. That is just some of the areas of where the donation
go. It also goes to The Gender Equality of West Michigan, which will provide
informational seminars and groups to spread the cause further in the state of
Michigan.
We are also talking with the GVSU
women’s society to start a yearly women’s Informational Bazaar. That will also
be a direct approach to spreading the word of gender Equality as well as
cohabitating with other Women’s rights groups, and the LGBT community as well.
If this is something you or your organization would like to get involved with
please let me know.
In conclusion, the HE For She
movement is important because Gender equality is not only a women’s
issue, it is a human rights issue that affects all of us – women and girls, men
and boys. We all benefit socially, politically and economically from gender
equality in our everyday lives. When women are empowered, the whole of humanity
benefits. Gender equality liberates not only women but also men, from
prescribed social roles and gender stereotypes.
Thank You for your time and Consideration
